DIMITRI MINUCCI IS A FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH! WITH HIS SOPHOMORE ALBUM, TENTATIVELY TITLED “PROJECT13,” HE SHOWS US EXACTLY WHY. THE ALBUM IS 11 TRACKS OF DANCE-ABLE, ROCK-ABLE FUN THAT IS JUST IN TIME FOR THE UPCOMING SUMMER SEASON. NOT ONLY IS THERE PASSION IN THE LYRICS, THERE IS GREAT PRODUCTION WORK AND, MOST IMPORTANTLY, HEART BEHIND EVERY SONG.

With the rise of shows like “Drag Race,” it seems as though everyone thinks they can be a pop star or recording artist. It is a relief when you come across someone’s work that isn’t drenched with auto-tune and over-production to hide the fact that actual vocal talent is not present. This is the case with “Project13.” Minucci not only has the pipes, he has the songwriting skills.

The album kicks off to a stellar start with “WhoW Are,” a song about self identity and how much power self-awareness really has. It then goes into other up-tempo pop-tastic trackslike “Don’t Stop,” “Like I Do,” “History” and my personal favorite, a cover of the iconic “Last Night a DJ Saved My Life.”

This is exactly what I have been looking for in a pop album. The beats are current with eyebrowraising bass and perfectly complementary synths while Minucci’s voice is original and pleasing to the cerebellum.

The entire album has an overall tone of love and the importance it has in our lives. When asked where the motivation came from, Minucci tenderly said, “Well, these songs are almost all about my husband. The man I share my life with.”

Now, if that doesn’t tug at your heartstrings…well, you are a cold, heartless bitch that should probably be in therapy. But, with that fact in the forefront of your mind, you can really see how passion is behind this entire project. That speaks leaps and bounds for his brand as a whole.

So whether you are you beating your face, strutting down 9th Avenue, or just in need of a good, naked apartment cleaning, this is an album that is not just good, it is a great example of LGBT artistry.

Oh, and Mr. Minucci is also stupidly gorgeous, which, ya know, is always a HUGE plus! Carry on, good sir, carry on!
