NYC’S BIGGEST HALLOWEEN BASH RETURNS! #MASK4MASK

MAJOR PRODUCTION

Each year, Matinée presents one of the most sought-after Halloween celebrations. This year promises to be the best one yet, more extensively and more expensively produced as the producers – Jake Resnicow, Patrick Crough and Joe Roszak – are pumping even more power into the planning, promotion and over-the-top production we’ve come to expect from the world-famous brand. They gave us some insight as to what will be going on All Hallows Eve and into the iconic NYC party weekend.

NYC’S BIGGEST HALLOWEEN BASH RETURNS! #MASK4MASKMAJOR PRODUCTIONBIGGEST COSTUME CONTEST

Do you have any special theme in mind for your Halloween party?
Of course, we’ve always got a special theme in mind! This last summer at Circuit Festival in Barcelona, the Pervert party was off the hook! People were talking about the shows, the music, the energy for weeks afterwards. We knew we needed  the same formula – incredible DJ sets from Tom Stephan and Taito Tikaro, amazing production including shocking costuming and acts – and bring the party back to NYC. It’s been years since we’ve done it, and adding a Halloween twist on things plus our #MASK4MASK Costume Contest will definitely make things interesting.

What DJs are you expecting to have?
Musical mastermind Tom Stephan, who’s known in the mainstream for having some of the world’s most popular Beyoncé remixes, plus Matinee all-star and my favorite Taito Tikaro. NYC’s own Rico Alexis will start off the night.

Where will it be held, how does one get tickets and what time do the doors open?
It will be held at the incredible Capitale. I first walked into this venue years ago for a corporate event and said to myself, “I MUST do a party here!” It has such unique character and history behind it. Plus we’re doing a full-out production installation never seen before with major sound, lighting and stage. For tickets, visit MatineeNYC.com. It starts at 10 p.m. on October 30. The #MASK4MASK Costume Contest starts right when doors open, so don’t be late!

There are several large parties scheduled for Halloween. What makes yours stand out above the rest? What will make your party spectacular?
The beats, the boys, the shows and the #MASK4MASK Costume Contest with major prizes from Matinee and Pump. There’s so much that makes Matinee Halloween stand out. But my favorite piece that makes us different is the production. People have gotten to know the quality product that we deliver, and we’re excited to once again exceed expectations.

How many months does it take for you to put a party like this together?
In my eyes, it’s taken years. Each event we do builds upon the last. So it’s really a continuous project we’ve been working on for the last five years.

Tell us more about the costume contest.
We’ve got gay NYC’s biggest costume contest with a special MASKED theme this year. We’re calling it #MASK4MASK. I suspect some will definitely use the Pervert theme to inspire their looks, while others will probably find other masked ideas to win the grand prize with. Last year’s contest looks were absolutely insane – shout out to The Scarecrow and Nikki Exotica’s incredible Mistique – so I’m looking forward to seeing how people one-up themselves this year using masks.

What is your most favorite party that you have done or will do?
Pervert is a theme I always go a little crazy on the production with. The brand sometimes taglines the theme “The Beauty of Darkness.” It’s a lot of fun to dive into darker concepts, costuming, music, etc.

BIGGEST COSTUME CONTEST

What makes this party unique?
Our party is the night before Halloween on Friday, October 30, so we are launching your Halloween weekend with BIG room energy, state-of-the-art production and one of the sexiest parties you can’t miss! Matinee is consistently known for being a party’s party, and we intend on keeping it that way with amazing boys, sickening beats and shows that you’ll never forget.

What goes into producing a party of this magnitude?
A party on this level takes YEARS to develop. Developing and nurturing a brand as BIG as MatineeNYC requires developing relationships around the country and world, combing the country for some of the best talent and production and putting in countless hours to constantly improve from event to event.

How does one win the costume contest?
A panel of celebrity nightlife judges will be choosing the best masked looks to receive prizes from Matinee and Pump that range from passes to International Circuit Events all the way to gift cards to everyone’s favorite underwear company, PUMP.

Do you have a guess as to what the most popular costume will be this year?
It’s always hard to guess.Matinee guests are known for turning it out when it comes to costumes and innovative looks. I can’t wait to see what they’ll come up with this year.

What will be different about this year’s event?
Thanks to our partners at ABSOLUT, we will be undertaking our biggest production ever. Expect a mind-blowing high-resolution LED stage, much reminiscent of Ibiza. Our Matinée USA VJ Johnathan Reginier will be flying in to deliver incredible visuals. Our LD Derek Vazquez on lights and lasers. Jason Ojeda, who’s behind Space Ibiza New York’s #1-rated sound system, will be bringing in a custom sound install.

Is there anything else that you would like to promote or talk about?
We are also excited to be announcing ACTION AfterHours on Halloween Night: Sunday morning, November 1, featuring the musical talents of Billy Lace and DJ Hannah. Get your tickets at MatineeNYC.com!
