Mackintosh Braun

Originally from Portland, Oregon, Mackintosh Braun, an electro pop duo, has just released “The City Below EP.” The duo, comprising Ian Mackintosh and Ben Braun, share in the production and songwriting of their enchanting and unique recordings. The ‘80s-inspired band is reminiscent of Depeche Mode and other European groups of that time period; however, they claim their own special sound and style.

Their sensational sounds have been heard on such TV shows as “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Gossip Girl,” “Chuck” and “How to Make It in America.” The band’s track “Frozen” was featured in the 2011 film, “The Beaver.”

The first EP track, “The City Below,” is an electronic dream pop song with amazing vocals and melodic harmonies. “Never Give In” is very European sounding accompanied by an awesome dance beat. The haunting track “In Reverse” is clearly touching and passionate. “Outline,” the last track on the EP, is slightly more upbeat and racy.

“The City Below EP” is deeply emotional, the vocals elegant and the lyrics poignant. The duo is emotive and powerful, impassioned with drama and relevance. Their full-length album is slated to be released early 2015.
