Live Review: Adam Ant: “Kings of the Wild Frontier” Tour
Speaking of ‘Standing and Delivering”, the Dandy Highway Man, stood on stage and delivered the most titanically spectacular exhibition ever to grace a concert hall, for nearly 2 hours, moving that sexy, salacious body of his, non stop, while miraculously re-inventing himself once again, and appearing more lively, high spirited and confident, than ever before.
This was more than a concert, but rather an epic historic event worthy of “The Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame”, and any other honor possible that can be bestowed upon a Rocker. A majestic symphony overture announced the arrival of the Messiah, who proceeded to command the stage, with “Dog Eat Dog”. The sold out crowd rose to their feet, never to occupy their seats again. The iconic soul of Adam Ant transcended into audience, as he continued “Kings of the Wild Frontier”, in exact sequential order with “Antmusic”, “Feed Me to the Lions”, Los Rancheros”, “Ants Invasion”, and so forth…..It felt like a visit from an old friend, as did The “Dirk Wears White Sox” Tour, last year. However this concert exploded with futuristic sound and light, dazzling the stage with fun, frenzy, and relevance of today.
When the album had come to completion, Adam treated the fanatic’s to yet more surprises including, “Viva La Rock”, “Christian Dior”, “Desperate But Not Serious”, and even “Goody Two Shoes”. He then did “Prince Charming”, and playfully demanded that the audience sing it with him, and then without him. He left the stage after that and came back with an encore, nearly as long as an opening support set.
Adorned in radiant Adam Ant attire, the rocker looked visibly flawless, even after he started to take off some of his clothes. His voice was crisp and melodic, perfectly on pitch, and his band was spot on, as they always are….Special personal thanks to Joe for stopping to pose for pictures on the streets of Liverpool.
It was a glorious evening, and an honor to have attended such an extravaganza, from one of the most courageous stars in the sky, who more than anyone deserves success. There are a handful of concerts left, and if you are reading this, my advice to you is to find a way to see them.
