Global DJ Phenomena: Get Out! Magazine DJ of the Year Tony Moran Ushers in New Years Eve @ The Eagle

What better and more exciting way to usher in the New Year than with iconic, globally acclaimed DJ Tony Moran, who has just been named DJ of the Year by Get Out Magazine!

For those who aren’t familiar, Tony Moran is a DJ, singer, songwriter and record producer who has hit the Billboard charts at #1 many times. Aside from his own super hits, he has produced, remixed and worked with artists including Madonna, Michael Jackson, George Michael, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Selena Gomez, and a barrage of others. He began his career with friend Albert Cabrea as the Latin Rascals and shortly after that, he was hired by Fever Records to write songs for other artists. The result of that was the song “Show Me” by the Cover Girls, which became his first top 40 hit. He constantly continues to write songs and travel the world as a number one DJ extravaganza.

I was fortunate to catch Tony for a conversation in the midst of his studio work and travel time to talk about the hottest party planned for New Years Eve…with the most compelling DJ on the planet!

INTERVIEW>>>

New York and the Eagle are so excited to see you return to the city, especially for NYE….

I’m very excited to come back to New York. The Eagle has rebranded itself and reinvested in itself…It’s more than just a fetish bar. It’s actually become a high-tech disco complex. They have a humongous dance floor–kind of like Splash, if you remember what that used to be. I’m very excited to be returning there.

I wanted to get your thoughts about returning to New York and bringing in the New Year at the Eagle…

Traveling around the world for several years, sometimes your favorite places in the world aren’t with you because the timing is just not right. Most venues want you on the same weekend, like New Year’s Eve, Martin Luther King Day, Presidents’ Day, July 4th, Labor Day and all these holidays, so I just have to wait it out. So my return to the Eagle was very special, since growing up there. So as I said, I’ve been traveling around the world and doing all these amazing events over the last several years and somehow because of scheduling issues I have, playing in New York City has eluded me. It’s left sort of a little void in my heart because my energy originates from New York City.

You have a very unique style….

Thankfully, my brand and my legacy have led to my upbeat and very positive outlook on music. I also have such a special flavor for doing things that stimulate the sexuality, and it makes it even more provocative with such a variety of feelings…and I get to do this many times when I play after hours in L.A. I’ve done many after-hours in L.A. just so I could keep that edge because I am a songwriter and a producer of wonderful music and my goal in life is to be able to entertain people and leave them with something to remember outside of the experience… and many times, it’s the song. Like “Hands in the Air”, the Tony Moran anthem. It’s something sexy, something believable and as I said provocative. I have really prepared for providing all of this content that’s going to stimulate your mind. Musically, from another perspective, you really haven’t heard me playing New York or Los Angeles or in Miami or in Fort Lauderdale, where I could hit you hard…I have nothing to prove except to stimulate your senses and give you an enjoyable time. So I’m really ready to show New York how much I’ve missed them and I want them to know that I am hoping as well that they let me know how happy they are to see me again.

I know where I’m going New Year’s Eve!

New Year’s Eve is such a special time of year, where almost anything goes. You are ready to restart your next chapter in life within 24 hours of December 31 and as Prince said, “Let’s party like it’s 1999”… You’re going to have all kinds of people surrounded by reflective feelings, and with the knowledge of that, it just allows me to investigate and study my repertoire knowing that all those things can be going through your mind. What I can at least provide to you is that the audience themselves will know that the effort was made to stimulate, generate, electrify and create memories that you will remember. So 2023 is going to come in with a bang and I’m going to make sure that happens.

I’m sure you will! And there is no one better qualified on the planet.

I am very honored to hear you say that and I’m so happy that I got this call from you. The owners and the staff have been amazing. Again, it’s a mutual appreciation society. I am as much excited to give you something special as you want to hear it. Many of the current and resident DJs are friends of mine. We share music and we also share the excitement of those key destinations and places of musical joy where the journey reveals itself to you. Everyone is so ready and I am very much ready. So everyone be ready to stay out for a while….. then right after that, I am on a 7 AM flight to Los Angeles to do it all over again.  I will be in New York several days prior because I am a New Yorker and I need some time to catch up with my family and some friends, hopefully. I will already be in the New York spirit and the New York state of mind, and I am going to knock your socks off.
