The music community has once again lost a great and dazzling , icon today. Prince Rogers Nelson died at age 57, at his home.

“It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary iconic performer, Prince, has died and his Paisley Park residence this morning at age 57”, was the quote from his publicist in a statement today.

The superstar, pop singer, multi instrumentalist, producer, actor, relevant trend setter, activist, and brilliant artist began his career in 1978 with his debut album, “For You”. Named after the Prince Roger Trio, a jazz band his father was a member of, he combined rock, R&B, funk, hip hop, and disco into his somewhat controversial music fusion of religious and sexual themes. Best known for his musical rock drama, “Purple Rain”, which received an Oscar, and sold over 25 million copies. He also scored 7 Grammys during his career, and had an intense impact on music culture.

Although he had been battling an illness which was called a flu for several weeks, his death comes as a great shock to the world. “When Doves Cry”, “Little Red Corvette”, and “1999”, were just a few of the songs we will always remember. His final performance was in Atlanta on April 14th.

Prince’s sad and untimely death is being mourned throughout the world by fans everywhere. Considered one of the most influential musical geniuses ever, and will be greatly missed. He touched many with his kindness and artistry.
