DC “Sex Shop” is Open for Business
Thousands of gay men will converge on the nation’s capital this Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend for the annual Mid-Atlantic Leather (MAL) event. The event celebrates the fetish community and features dark rooms, human puppy parks, and exhibitor booths showcasing S&M gear and toys.
“It’s a fun weekend for everyone in the fetish community as well as for curious spectators,” explains local gay party producer Q, aka Mother Fantasy, best known for his series of monthly events at Washington D.C.’s L8DC nightclub. He will present the La Fantasy “Sex Shop Party” there on Friday, January 18.
“MAL creates an environment where everyone can be themselves without judgement.”
Q understands the importance of living life as his authentic self. The 34-year old veteran served in Iraq and Afghanistan and says he discovered his love for the dance floor while attending circuit festivals around the world. “I started hosting private soirees in my penthouse and then invite-only after parties throughout the city.”
His themed-events incorporate everything from dancing Chinese dragons to electric body suits and exotic entertainers. “It’s all about creating a magical experience with exciting surprises that turn up the wow-factor and leave revelers craving for more,” he says.
His previous parties have been peppered with nightlife glitterati including Amanda Lepore and Pose‘s Dominique Jackson.
His upcoming “Sex Shop Party” promises to be his biggest and most outrageous yet. It will feature performances from leather and rubber men, gear-heads and kinksters, as well as music by international DJ phenomenon Alex Acosta, NYC’s Joe Pacheco and local DJ X Gonzalez. “It will be a fantastic night of debauchery where we all get to explore our darkest fantasies,” Q promises.
