This is ‘Tonight’… Now
Jace M, Joey Diamond, and Toy Armada Reimagine “Waiting for Tonight” for Today’s Dance Floor
Following their remake of the *NSYNC favorite “Tearin’ Up My Heart,” pop singer Joey Diamond and producer Jace M are once again bringing pre-millennial beats back to dance floors – this time with the help of Toy Armada – with their re-imagining of Jennifer Lopez’s “Waiting for Tonight.”
The trio take the song in an incredible new direction, infusing lots of drums and full synths. “I like songs people can sing along to on the dance floor,” Jace M explains. “Songs that make people want to hug their dancing partner.” The Miami-based DJ and producer is known worldwide for his happy, uplifting music with lots of vocals. He credits Joey’s singing chops for elevating their remake of JLO’s “Waiting for Tonight” to new levels.
“Joey’s range of vocals is stunning and the passion he exudes in the song is intoxicating,” he says.
Joey recalls listening to the original song as a kid. “It was inspiring to see a Latina dominating an era primarily inhabited by male vocalists,” he says. “Jennifer Lopez empowered a young generation of people of color and encouraged us to have hope for the future.”
Of working with Jace M to cover another nineties track, Joey explains: “I love remaking the nineties tracks that were so influential to me growing up. The songs are a huge inspiration for my original music as my goal, with both the covers and my original tracks, is to see people vibing, dancing, and having the time of their lives on the dance floor.”
The radio edit and extended mix of Joey Diamond, Jace M, and Toy Armada’s “Waiting for Tonight” are being distributed by Queen House Music and are available on Apple Music, Spotify, and all other digital platforms. In addition, Queen House Music is holding a remix contest for up-and-coming producers to submit their own rendition of the track. The favorites will be released on an upcoming remix package, along with mixes from veteran producers.
Joey Diamond grew up in Hayward California, outside of San Francisco. He released his first single, “Simple Things,” in 2014. Shortly after, he dropped an album and embarked on his first music tour, releasing additional singles along the way. With the success of the tour, he was invited to join a boy band, but it would be a short-lived project. Within a year, the members decided to split and Joey took time to re-evaluate what was important to him. Now a solo artist, Joey Diamond lives in Miami with his partner and their dog.
Jace M grew up in Washington DC and Detroit. When not DJing, Jace works full-time as a computer engineer and spends his evenings producing new music. He draws inspiration from many of the leading DJs from the early 2000s: luminaries like Abel, Ralphie Rosario, Tony Moran, Manny Lehman and DJ GRIND. As they did, Jace produces his own dancefloor music. He has released a slew of remixes, both by himself, and with collaborators including Joe Gauthreaux, Mauro Mozart and Toy Armada.
