New York City Gay Men’s Chorus presents What a Wonderful World

Joined by The Children’s Choir of the Brooklyn Waldorf School, with Special Video Holiday Messages from LGBTQ Choruses from Around the Globe

Celebrate this holiday season with 200 of the most the powerful voices in New York City – the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus (NYCGMC). NYCGMC is excited to share the 2013 edition of our trademark holiday spectacular – What a Wonderful World. Hear traditional seasonal favorites and stunning solstice and year-end songs by composers from other places and traditions. Enjoy special video appearances by several LGBT choruses from around the globe.

What a Wonderful World takes place Sunday, December 15th at 3pm and 7pm at New York’s landmark theater The Town Hall, 123 W. 43rd Street, New York. Tickets are available through the NYCGMC website, www.nycgmc.org.

In this internationally themed concert the NYCGMC sings in Mandarin, Hindi, Russian, Ladino, and Zulu and presents cool classical repertoire including Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols and Eric Whitacre’s gorgeous Lux Aurumque.

As a special treat The Children’s Choir of The Brooklyn Waldorf School joins the chorus in a rousing number complete with a Chinese dragon puppet! The diversity of songs and participants enhances NYCGMC’s powerful sound and the unique sense of community on stage.

According to Artistic Director Dr. Charles Beale, “This concert has a huge variety of fun songs from around the world, to get your year-end celebrations going. We’ll be receiving Holiday messages by video from top LGBTQ choruses from all over the globe, to exemplify the fact that we are not alone in our shared mission of full equality for all.”

On the heels of the Chorus’s holiday spectacular, they will continue its momentum with the more-than-over-the-top March production. Following five years of sell-out, sing-along performances, NYCGMC will present Big Gay Sing 6: Club Night Out!

This fabulous spring tradition in its 6th unstoppable year is a soul stirring sing-a-long featuring club classics from 1970s disco to present day, guest starring club icon Martha Wash – The Original Weather Girl! Come dressed for a club night out in the era of your choice, and enjoy!

And, as always, there will be tons of audience sing-a-long opportunities – because at Big Gay Sing you’re the star! BGS6 will take place at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts on March 14 and 15, 2014. Tickets go on sale Thursday February 6, 2014.

The Pride Month concert will be a first ever joint concert by all four New York City LGBTQ choruses. New York City Gay Men’s Chorus is joined by The Stonewall Chorale, Empire City Men’s Chorus, and Lavender Light Gospel Choir.  This diverse and innovative 4-choir program spans styles and traditions and celebrates LGBTQ love in all its forms. Four Choirs and a Cathedral: An LGBTQ Choral Celebration will be performed at the iconic Cathedral of St. John the Divine on Saturday, May 30, 2014. Tickets go on sale Thursday April 24, 2014.

Tickets are available through www.nycgmc.org.
