From #NYCAnthem to The Winner

Congratulations on your song reaching Top 100 iTunes in eight countries! Aside from the love of your hometown, what prompted you to write #NYCAnthem?

Thank you very much. I wanted to represent my hometown with this song. NYC is the birthplace of hip hop. We have so many greats from the five boroughs, including Notorious B.I.G., Nas, LL Cool J, Run DMC and so many more. I was born in Harlem Hospital. I still reside in Harlem.

You are one of the headliners for the LGBT Expo at Jacob Javits Center this year. What will your set be like?
I am excited to be performing at The LGBT Expo. The set list will be a mix of my up-and-coming album “The Winner” with my label mates, so because I’m one of the headliners, I’m going all out!
Your debut album “The Winner” is going to be released in March. What is the concept of it?
“The Winner” album is surrounded by all of my dreams coming into fruition, hence the word winning. It’s hip hop, but there will be other music genre elements mixed in as well, including some that you may not expect.

You co-own Pathway34 Records with singer/actor Lovari. What has been the best experience as a label head so far?
The best thing is when we give other artists opportunity to make their dreams come. I love when Lovari sends me screenshots of our artists on the Top 100 iTunes charts. Pathway Records/34 Whale Ent. was built to help independent artists gain visibility within the music industry. We want to give the artists a pathway to success. We are a distribution label to help artists put their music out on various digital music stores.

Your station WeOnRadio is broadcast online through Live365. Let our readers know about your Wake The Fu%* Up morning show.
We On Radio is a 24/7 days a week radio station providing independent artists a chance to get their music heard. The morning show, me and Durell Arthur, we speak on world news issues and play good music.

I am the owner of We On Radio station. I created it because there is not enough independent artist visibility on FM radio stations. We On Radio bridges the gap between the mainstream and independent artists.

#NYCAnthem is available now on iTunes and Amazon.com.
