Drag Race Is Fierce – Season 7 Queens Take Over New York City’s Diamond Horseshoe
“RuPaul’s Drag Race,” the pop culture phenomenon that has taken the world by its weave, returns for its seventh season on March 2.
Last month, Logo TV announced the 14 queens competing for the $100,000 cash prize and coveted title of “America’s Next Drag Superstar.” Now they are giving fans the opportunity to meet the talented ladies of drag in person!
On Monday, February 23, the entire cast will take over the stage at Diamond Horseshoe in New York for live gag-worthy performances and a special advance screening of the show’s first episode.
Who will be your favorite? Decide for yourself at Diamond Horseshoe! We took the opportunity to speak with one of our faves, Jaidynn Diore Fierce. Don’t know the plus-sized dancing runway queen yet? Trust us, you will soon!
Did you always know you wanted to do drag?
No. Honestly, I was a little creeped out when I saw my first drag show. After watching queens for some time, I learned to appreciate the art.
How did you develop your character?
My drag character is very loud, a little hood, and lots of fun. I’ve always been drawn to girls that are different, avant-garde, creative and edgy.
Were you always so fierce?
My performances have always been fierce, but my look, well, l was serving extreme #BUSTED realness for some time. I’ve been working so hard, though, on my sewing and creativity. Except for one, all of my looks on the show are Jaidynn Diore Fierce original.
Why do you believe you should you be “America’s Next Drag Superstar”?
I would love to inspire anyone who has been told they are not good enough – too fat, too skinny, too short, too tall, too young, too old – that they can do anything and be anything they put their mind to.
How does your fierceness stack up against the other ladies?
I’m a pretty well rounded queen. I can sing, dance, act, sew…
What is your biggest strength in the competition?
My talents.
Biggest weakness?
My nerves. Sometimes I freak out, go blank and get really nervous when I am out of my comfort zone.
At the end of the Race, what do you hope to be remembered for?
I would like to be remembered as a plus-size fashionista with a lot of pizzazz, confidence and a fierce persona.
The “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 7 Premiere takes place Monday, February 23, 2015, at 8 p.m. @ Diamond Horseshoe (235 W 46th Street). General admission: $60. VIP: $95. Tickets on sale now at vossevents.com.
