Music and Community with Royal Advisor Records
AIDS Walk New York, which takes place annually in Central Park, is coming up on Sunday, May 20. As with every year, the event is inspiring residents of the tri-state area to raise money to combat HIV and AIDS. The funds raised at the event remain a vital lifeline sustaining the prevention, care and advocacy programs provided by GMHC and other organizations.
Among those inspired are DJ Lorant and supporters of his music label, Royal Advisor Records (RAR), who are planning to walk as Team RAR for the second year in a row. The team raised close to $7,000 for the walk in 2017 and needs your help beating that amount this time around.
“We have seen brilliant advances in HIV treatment and prevention in the last few years,” says DJ Lorant, “but it is our duty to get the message out that the fight is far from over, especially in parts of the world where medicine and healthcare aren’t as accessible. People still need reminding that HIV and AIDS are not just a LGBTQ issue, but a global crisis that also affects millions of children.”
Founded by Lorant in 2010, Royal Advisor Records introduces queer talent to the world in all spectra of dance and electronic music. Pushing the boundaries of house music, new-wave-hip-hop, synth-soul and deep techno with its innovative collaborations, RAR’s catalogue is made up of artists such as Will Sheridan, AB Soto and The Illustrious Blacks.
