amberRose Marie is one of our favorite Diva-licious recording artists on the nightlife scene. We know this Catz Entertainment recording artist from her high-energy stage shows and her Billboard self-penned BMI hit songs, “Destiny” and “Wanna Be A DJ,” which blazed up onto the top of the music industry and DJ charts internationally.
We have seen her on the red carpet at A-list Fashion Week, Grammy and Billboard events and as a headliner during The Original GLBT Expo. With mega shows at Trumps’ Taj Mahal, Empire BallRoom and Gypsy in Vegas, Twist in Miami, and Stonewall in New York, and every major pride festival, she always makes time to support her favorite charities. amberRose Marie is front and center for GLBT rights and HIV/AIDS campaigns, and she is a LIFEbeat Hearts and Voices artist. Her latest single, “Wanna Be A DJ,” leads off Brett Henrichsen’s White Party 20th Anniversary CD, and is heard in trendy stores like Abercrombie & Fitch, H&M and in over 22 countries on the radio and on the dance floor.
amberRose Marie calls her fans “Fan Peeps,” and her Fan Peeps are very passionate about their star. The Lady has got style, talent, grace and a fabulous attitude on and off stage. With a fan base as eclectic as her energetic stage show, we thought it was about time to get up close and personal with the incomparable amberRose Marie.
Q&A as posed by her Fan Peeps and our GET OUT! Readers:
Jorge L., Venezuela:
Who is your music idol and why?
I have a few – Judy Garland, Steven Tyler, Michael Jackson, P!NK, Melissa Etheridge, Barbara Streisand, Tina Turner, Elvis Presley, and Black Eyed Peas. I love each for a different reason but they are all unique with signature voices unlike anyone else and they are all fantastic entertainers, who give a great show for their fans.
David O., New York City:
Are you really the one who manages your Facebook?
Yes I am. Sometimes my label puts up the events, or flyers but that’s it. I’m the one who my Fan Peeps are talking to and any comments and posts are made by me personally! I love Facebook because it’s a great way to stay connected with my Fan Peeps on a personal level.
Francesca B., Staten Island:
What has inspired you to want to become so supportive of the LGBT community?
A few things inspired me to become supportive of the LGBT community. Many don’t know this about me but I was bullied all through Elementary & Middle School, emotionally and physically…so I know first hand what that feels like to be discriminated against simply for being yourself. I believe that everyone should be treated equally! I also have LGBT family members, and dear friends, so my support is personal and I enjoy using my celebrity to shine the light on what is dear to my heart. I love my LGBT Fan Peeps and Friends.
Steve M., New Jersey:
Where would you move, once you push Lady Gaga out the way, when you reach your highest success point in your musical career?
LOL You’re so funny! I get asked the Lady Gaga question a lot, maybe because I have been rockin’ my hair colors for a while, but I don’t want to push her out the way – she has her fans and is talented also! But once I am as big as her, I’d move to NYC Baby!!!
Rodney D., North Carolina:
With a hit song like “Wanna Be A DJ,” who is your favorite DJ?
It’s so hard to pick just one, especially with a song like, “Wanna Be A DJ,” so I will say there are so many that I Iove. But to single out a few…Johnny Rocks, Brett Henrichsen, Boris, Vic Latino, David Guetta and of course all my FABTABULOUS DJ/Remixers on “Destiny” & “Wanna Be A DJ” – Klubjumpers, John Rizzo & Barry Huffine, Maximus 3000, DJ Corey D, Mike Cruz, Norty Cotto, Giuseppe D., Albert Castillo, Josh Harris, Georgie Porgie, Dave Fairman, Majik Boys, Davidson Ospina, M-Deep (Sandeep & Mr. Mig) and M.I.S. They are the masters that compliment my voice on my CDs.
Megan D., Long Island:
I would love to know how you got your start, and where can I get an autographed photo?
I started by recording my own music, I had ups and downs along the way but kept going. Eventually I was introduced to my label Catz Entertainment through 106.1 FM WBLI, a top 40 radio station on Long Island, NY! And yes, you can get my autograph; send your addy to my manager, Catherine Laporte at: catzentertainment@gmail.com
Tym Moss – “Artist Exposed,” NYC:
Who does your choreography? Do you get the dance ideas as you’re creating the songs? You’re very natural.
Thank you so much, but I can’t take the credit…I have an AMAZING choreographer – his name is Anthony Lattimore and he knows how to rock the moves! I just add my creative style…but you really should see me in rehearsal…I’m there quite a bit, in order to get the finished look! My dancers Vincent, Anna, K Bunny and Carrie also help me rock the stage and keep the energy up.
Mare L., Long Island:
Where were you when you first heard your record on the radio?
When I heard my first Billboard hit “Destiny” play I was in a retail store and they were playing Party FM. I ended up throwing everything in my arms up, and fell to my knees crying and the sales person asked if I needed an ambulance! They thought I was having a heart attack, LOL. I then called my parents and my manager. Catherine, didn’t pick up her phone so I left a message; I believe she still has the message saved! After I told the girls who I was, they were so excited and took pics with me and asked for my autograph, I even got 20% off my purchase that day!
Ike A., Philadelphia:
When can we expect a new CD and do you have a concept?
I’ve been writing and recording new music, and you will be hearing it on my full-length CD, “Get Up & Dance,” to be released this year. The lead single may be “Pole Danca.” It’s going to contain originals of both ballads and pop/dance with even a little country rock. I’m also paying tribute to some of my favorite artists, but you can count on it being a vocal record. Visit me online for all of the details at amberRoseMarie.com or on Facebook for updates.
