New York City promoter John Ed is always hard at work. The selfproclaimed workaholic is best known for his largerthan-life nightlife events and his flair for theatrics. His weekly TS event, Tranny Strip, started originally on Friday nights and has since expanded to three separate parties every week. As Tranny Strip celebrates its upcoming second anniversary this Friday at Evolve Lounge, John Ed paused (albeit briefly, before he had to get back to work) to reflect on his wild ride so far.
“I can’t believe it’s been two years already. Everything has been such a whirlwind of excitement, and I’m looking forward to the direction that Tranny Strip will be taking in 2014,” Ed says. “It’s overwhelming, but it’s a challenge that I welcome. I am definitely a go getter and a workaholic, but I always make it a point to be available for my staff, friends and customers.”
Tranny Strip’s second anniversary will be celebrated with a glamorous showgirl themed event, Viva Las Tranny Strip, at Evolve Lounge this Friday, October 25, 2013. The event will be hosted by “TS Supermodel of the World” Jennifer Paris along with Ashley Sky, Sandy Michelle, Ebonee Excell and Leslie Polanco. There will be special performances by showgirls Karen Covergirl and Jessica Foxx throughout the night. Guests can enjoy the talents of DJ MK and MC Showgirl Follies Chelsea Malone and have the opportunity to walk
the red carpet with beautiful TS showgirls. There will also be giveaways from companies like Eros, Transformation Magazine and Grooby Productions. Hors d’oeuvres and an open bar will be from 9-10 p.m. Tranny Strip continues to grow since its inception in 2011 and now includes a weekly party on Sunday nights and a happy hour party every Thursday. Their flagship Friday night party still dominates the NYC nightlife scene with its lavish themes and special guests, but John Ed has found a way to include the TS community and its allies as a whole by catering each weekly event to a different crowd.
Recently hired as the promotional and creative director at hot new club Sankeys NYC for their Sunday night events, John Ed revealed the Tranny Strip parties on Sundays will be moved to a designated VIP section of the club starting in November where guests can enjoy the musical talents of NYC’s best DJs.
