Elusive is not a word used to describe Lady Clover Honey. You can find her at practically every NYC nightlife event in the LGBT community, seven days a week. The beloved drag diva will be hosting this year’s Jersey City Pride on Saturday, October 25, on Grove Street’s City Hall (hudsonpride.org/events/jc-pride-2014/) and is the co-star in recording artist Aline Queen’s music video “SuperFreak,” which is the official theme song for the new season of “American Horror Story: Freakshow.” You can also catch her on the big screen in the fortchcoming months at various U.S. film festivals with her role in “St. Agatha,” directed by Nika SavitskayA.
Lady Clover Honey’s inspirations arise from the glamour of the Golden Era of Hollywood and include Mae West, Marilyn Monroe and Carol Channing. While you’ll find her singing the occasional Katy Perry song at a performance, most of her numbers are from ‘40s and ‘50s musicals and introduce a younger generation to these classic tunes.
Some of the highlights of Lady Clover’s endeavors include a three-season run as co-host and co-producer on the NYCLife television series “Under the Pink Carpet.” Past season episodes can be seen at
nyc.gov/html/media/html/tv/nyctv_life_underthepinkcarpet_episodes.shtml. The series, which highlighted LGBT nightlife and events, featured interviews with Joan Rivers, Nathan Lane, Cyndi Lauper, Susan Lucci, Joan Collins, Michael Musto, Rosie O’Donnell, Leslie Jordan, Donna Summer, Bea Arthur and many more. A few highlights included a segment on the Get Out! Awards and another on Clover conducting the Gay Men’s Chorus at Carnegie Hall.
