Pop artist Stewart Taylor is making waves once again with the release of his explosive new music video for “Even,” a dance-pop anthem that captures the turbulent highs and lows of a rocky relationship. Available now on YouTube, the track—produced by Romanian hitmaker MADS—melds a distinct European dance-pop sound with candid, heartfelt lyrics. Described by Taylor as a “pre-breakup song,” “Even” explores the emotional rollercoaster of love, conflict, and the need for personal accountability.

The music video, directed by Benjamin Farren, takes the song’s intensity to new heights with a creative twist. Set in a retro-inspired video game world, Taylor and his on-screen partner battle through a series of “levels,” each representing emotional and mental struggles within their relationship. The visuals seamlessly blend animation, special effects, with designs by German fashion designer Joseph Auren and high-energy choreography crafted by Julie Vegliante.

Inspired by a retro eighties-style jacket that read “Game Over,” the video draws parallels between gaming and relationships. “Each fight felt like a new game level,” Taylor explains. “By the time I finished writing the song, my real-life relationship was very much ‘Game Over.’” Catharsis comes alive in cinematic moments, like battling in a neon Corvette or confronting his partner—donning a golden panther head—symbolizing the predatory nature of their conflicts.

Despite the intense inspiration behind “Even,” Taylor reveals that he has reached peace with the past. “Over the years, my ex and I have healed and stayed friends,” he shares. “He’s been supportive of the song, and thankfully, the fighting is over.”

Taylor, an LA-based artist, has carved a name for himself through collaborations with top-tier talent like Charlie Puth and RuPaul’s Drag Race icons. Known for tracks like “Mess Your Hair Up” and “Nightmares,” the Berklee College of Music graduate continues to push creative boundaries. With “Even” and an upcoming Tennebreck remix geared toward club audiences, Taylor is building anticipation for his 2025 debut album.
