Ryan Skyy The ‘Done’ Tour

One of the top DJs and producers, Ryan Skyy, will be performing his new music featuring Niki Darling June 1 at The Get Out! Magazine Awards. Since we last had a conversation with Skyy, a lot has happened for him and the new release. He and Niki will be going on tour kicking off June 1 at The Get Out! Magazine Awards, and we are proud to have them!

What’s been going on since the last time we spoke?
Oh my gosh, it’s been quite the whirlwind really.

I heard.
We last spoke in January, and in a span of a month we got picked up by Huffington Post, CBS, and then Out magazine, and then MTV.com and Logo.

Just remember, Get Out! was first.
You were the first. Thank you so much for making it easier for them to get to us.

So Niki told Get Out! about all of the above; however I understand that you are arranging a tour. Can we talk about that?
Yes, we can. We are going on an East and West coast tour called “The Done” tour. It’s taking place this summer, and we are stopping in Boston, New York, Philly, Baltimore, D.C., Atlanta and then on the West Coast: San Diego, LA and San Francisco. Also potentially Vegas; I will know in the next day or two.

Niki said her bags were packed.

Oh, yeah, she’s ready to go.

I heard that you were arranging the tour.
We started Keystone Music Group, the label.

Keystone is your own label?
Yes, Anthony Gibson and I cofounded Keystone Music Group. So we’re doing the tour through Keystone, and we’re timing it with the official release of “Done.” We released it in January, the video and the song, but I just signed a distribution deal with Citrusonic Stereophonic, which is a label in LA run by Orlando Puerta. Orlando just got done working on Madonna’s latest single, and he’s officially gonna be releasing “Done” to the Billboard charts and the Billboard reporters, so we’re starting a push to the charts this week. We’re also releasing  a remix package for “Done.” We’ll be servicing the remix package to DJs and clubs all over the world. So we’re doing a tour, and hopefully we’ll chart, so now is like the moment of truth.

Before your tour begins, we’d like you to perform at “Off Key Tiki”
We’re so grateful; we love you both. Get Out! Magazine was the first publication to really embrace us, give us a chance.  You gave us a platform to perform “Done” for the very first time.

And you’re going to be at the Get Out! Awards too.
I know! It’s exciting.

That makes me so happy. Now, besides your tour, MTV, Logo, CBS, Out magazine and Huffington Post, what else is going on?
We’re working on new music, a lot of production. We’re working on follow-up music to “Done,” official remixes, and I’m DJing. That’s been the big focus: It’s music. The advice that I’ve gotten from people in the industry unanimously is that we need more music, so if something happens with “Done” officially, we’re already getting contacted by a label in the UK that wants to license “Done” and break it in Europe. So I have no idea what’s going to happen in the next three to four months, but I do know that we need more music.

Is there anything else you’d like to tell us?
One thing I thought might be cool is to explain a little bit about the cover photo. It has an interesting story behind it. So the photo on the cover is shot by Aurora Crowley, and what’s special about his technique is he uses a military-grade laser beam. He paints them into the photo. So what’s interesting about the photo is it’s not Photoshopped at all. It looks like fire coming out of the sides of my head.  So he has me standing in this pitch-black room.  He posed me where he wanted me to be, and then he kept the shutter of the camera lens open, and came over to me with a laser beam. He would slowly move the beam, starting at the side of my head, and was drawing the image in the photo with light. Each photo took like 10 minutes.
