#1 Billboard dance artist Kendra Erika is celebrating Halloween this year with a thrilling and chilling new club version of the Broadway classic, “Phantom of the Opera.”  Produced by Damon Sharpe and Eric Sanicola, the song was specially crafted for today’s dance floor and will be available on iTunes and Apple Music this Friday.

“Growing up, my parents would always play the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack at dinner parties during the Halloween season,” remembers Kendra Erika. “I was always drawn to the beautiful storyline of the musical and the tragic plight of Christine.”

She points to similarities between the show’s heroine and some of her recent songs including “Temptation”, about being haunted by a figure or the idea of a person and “Secret”, where she plays with the concept of a masquerade.

Also, like Christine, Kendra Erika was classically trained in music.  Her Deep House/Pop recording style developed from going out to Miami clubs and experiencing the impact the city’s DJs had on the dance floor.  She said she was particularly drawn to how the music provided an escape for club fans.

“Dance music offers a full experience for all the senses to enjoy,” she reflects. “I aim to take people on an elevating, emotional journey with my songs.  It can be happy or sad, as long as it’s positive and affirming.  I steer clear from anything that is hyper sexualized or self-degrading. I’m not interested in providing a distraction that is disguised as an escape.”

She and Damon Sharpe (a Los Angeles-based hitmaker who has worked alongside several pop artists including Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande, Kylie Minogue, Kelly Rowland, Monica, 98 Degrees, Anastacia, and Natalie Cole) have had several Top 10 Billboard Dance Charts hits.  Their remake of Laura Branigan’s “Self Control” hit the #1 spot on Billboard in January 2019.

“Phantom of the Opera” will be available for purchase on Apple Music, Amazon, and all other major retailers as well as for streaming through Pandora and Spotify on Friday, October 25.
