Gay Funny Man Brings the Fiesta to Barracuda

Oscar Aydin isn’t a lot of things. He’s not a grouch. He’s not a golden statue. Nor is he a weiner. But one thing he is: He’s funny! Experience his comedy live when he premieres his variety show, Muy Caliente – hosted by Bianca Del Rio and co-starring his comedian friends Peaches Rodriguez, David Finklestein, Sharon Spell and Jordan Carlos – this Cinco de Mayo at Barracuda.

Are you Mexican?
No, but if you know a cleaning lady, I need one.

What’s your connection to Cinco de Mayo?
I bought some oranges from a Mexican lady selling them on the side of the road once.

You look like a terrorist. Do you have problems going through airport security?
All the time. But bringing a 14” black dildo usually gets me through quickly. It’s just that it takes up so much luggage space.

Why do gay men love your dirty Latino look?
I don’t know, maybe it’s because they think I’m a cab driver, and I’ll give them a free ride home after our date.

You probably have to groom a lot.
If I don’t groom, it’s like Jane Goodall and “Gorillas in the Mist” down there.

When did you realize you were funny?
Am I?

What do you discuss in your show?
Life events with anonymous people. I have to protect the identities of certain Republican senators.

Do you have a joke that never fails?
I always tell my friends when I perform, sometimes I’m on, sometimes I’m off. I’m kind of like Michelle Obama’s lazy eye.

Was it your idea to pull all these comedians together and make a fiesta of it?
Yes, one of my goals for 2013 was to do a variety show, and I’m happy it’s finally happening!

Why did you choose these particular comedians?
They were the only ones who called me back.

What’s with the rabbi?
He’s not a rabbi, thank goodness. He’s a real Hasidic Jew. He’s funny and has this dry sense of humor to him. And plus, I think he might own some apartment buildings in Manhattan.

Will this be his first time in a gay bar?
I still have to tell him about that.

Bianca’s hosting. She can be shady if the jokes aren’t funny. Are you worried?
No, I want her to be shady. I appreciate her political incorrectness.

Will your little Mexican Madre be in the audience for your first show at Barracuda?
No, unfortunately, she has to work at Chipotle that night.

Funny man Oscar Aydin headlines Muy Caliente at Barracuda (275 West 22nd St) on Sunday, May 5, at 8 p.m. Bianca Del Rio hosts. No cover. barracudanyc.com
