Nikki Fierce

Nikki Fierce, one of Long Island’s hottest and most sought-after drag queen, will be making her debut appearance at the Get Out! Awards on October 5. She has appeared in every gay venue on Long Island, the Ice Palace on Fire Island and many NYC clubs. She is best known for her unique and courageous acrobatics, as she thinks nothing of doing a backflip off the stage, following it with a cartwheel and then a split, all in the same breath. currently She can be seen nearly every Tuesday at Off-Key Tikki’s Carbaresque shows. Her costumes, style, paint and performance are nothing short of star quality, and her sense of humor is hard to match. Her drag queen attitude…Well, we will let her slide on that one. after all, she is a Queen!
Despite his rocky childhood, being taken away from his drug-affected biological mother and adopted into a home already saddled with eight children, Nikki (aka Johnnie Lamartz) rose above his issues and prevailed. He still cares for his adoptive mom, who was paralyzed due to a stroke years ago and maintains a closeness with his elderly adoptive dad.
Personally, Nikki has my heart, and when my hands aren’t around her neck for being annoying, I love him dearly.

Can you give me a brief history of your drag career this past year?
Its been…a struggle.

Why is that? In what way?
Performing wise, finding places to perform. The venues out here are scarce. But when they see me, they remember me.

Who remembers you?
Everyone.

How about Manhattan; why not there?
Transportation issues.

What do you think about the gay club situation on Long Island?
We have none.

Why do you think that is?
Well, the gay people are here, but they wind up going to the city, because they have events that are “happening.”

So how excited are you to be chosen to perform for the Get Out! Awards?
I think it’s amazing. I cannot wait. I’ve always wanted to do something like this, and now that I was chosen, I’m excited! And I’m going to “bring it” extra hard.

What do you like best about performing?
The glow and the smile I get from people’s faces when they see what I do. So when am I gonna do “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and get it over with already?

You better plan on doing it next season. Besides RuPaul, whats your biggest dream?
My biggest dream is to never have to worry ever.

About anything?
Everything. I never wanna be left in the dark.

What would you like the future to hold for you?
I see myself traveling across country doing tours.

In drag?
Yes. I wanna do benefits and stuff.

Leave us with a closing statement.
My next pageant is Miss Long Island coming up, and I will leave with a crown. And I will be amazing at the Get Out! Awards!

See Nikki at the Get Out! Awards, October 5, starting at 7:30 p.m. at Shadow Boxers NYC, 215 W 40th St.
