London’s Holly T has moved to New York. She is one “triple threat” whose name you’ll soon be hearing a lot more of.
Tell our readers a little about your music.
I don’t like to put myself in a box and say I only do one genre of music. I am constantly inspired by different artists, genres and decades of music. My current work is more dance/pop with a few rock songs. However, I am really inspired by the ‘80s and artists such as Donna Summer, Blondie and Prince, to name a few. I am inspired by their sounds but also like to create something new and take it to the next level.
What inspires you to make music?
I love to write, and writing for me is getting out whatever I feel inside. When I start writing I don’t just think about the song musically; I already have an idea of how I want the video to be and how I want the concept I am writing about to come across visually. I prefer to write a song and then create the beat, as I feel you have more artistic involvement in the direction of how you want the song to sound rather than writing to a track that’s already made. My inspiration is part of the drive that keeps me going. LYFE Management and my DJ Ray Love from K104 also inspire me to push further to the next level and are my greatest support.
What brought you to NYC?
I am originally from London, and in the summer of 2005 I came to New York on vacation. I was taken by how open and creative an environment it was, especially for artists. I was here for two months. When I missed my flight home, I took it as a major sign this was where I was meant to be. So I stayed and studied dance at one of the top dance schools in New York. Being in New York has allowed me to grow and develop as an artist and as a person.
Any upcoming performances?
I am getting ready to perform at Couture Fashion Week at the Waldorf Astoria in September, which I am super excited about!
