LGBTQIA+ Mainstay Paradise hosts this years Drag Queen

Visibility Day in Asbury Park, NJ; May 7, 2025

In 2023, the City of Asbury Park on the urgence from Paradise, declared May 7th Drag Queen Visibility Day.  This was declaration in response to the unfathomable amount of anti-drag and anti-trans laws being introduced into legislation across the country. The proclamation was swiftly recognized by both the state senate and the governor’s office.

This year, we continue the tradition of celebrating this milestone with our community to show our support of our LGBTQIA+ brothers and sisters throughout the nation and beyond.

On May 7th, we will gather at Paradise to host several events including a Drag Car Wash, a march across the boardwalk, Drag Zumba class and more.  Our night will conclude with the main event featuring performances by Miss Paradise 2025, Venus Mystique and a plethora of local guests.

All are welcome to join us at 7pm as we “drag the boards,” a walk from the Carousel building to Convention Hall; and back down Ocean Avenue to cross the rainbow crosswalk back to Paradise.

We will ask for a suggested donation of $10 for our Drag Car Wash and a $10 cash cover charge will be in place starting at 7:30pm for all other events.  A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Transgender Law Center.

Paradise/Empress manager, Ryan Jimenez echoed his statements from last year adding: “We are so proud to host this event, now in its 3rd year.  Our community gathers to show that drag has the power to entertain, heal, uplift and inspire. As always, we thank our local and state legislators for their support. On May 7th if we change one persons viewpoint and/or showed our community across the globe that they matter, then our job is done.”
