Taking place this Friday at BPM, The Hookies honors the best in the male escort industry with awards in 15 categories including Best Top, Best Bottom and Best Daddy. Presented by Rentboy.com, the night’s top prize is the Mr. International Escort 2014 award. Among the men competing for it are Mr. Los Angeles Tommy Defendi, Mr. Florida Angel Rock and Mr. San Francisco Blue Bailey. We, of course, will be cheering on Mr. New York Boomer Banks, who graces our cover this issue, as we laugh along with the evening’s host, Leslie Jordan.

This is your second year hosting the Hookies!
I had so much fun last time. I’m a perfect host! I’ve been giving boys my lunch money for action in the woods since I was 10 years old.

Have you ever hired a male escort?
I practically live on Rentboy.com. I travel eight months out of the year on tour, staying in hotels. The Hookies are always
there for company, wherever I go. See? I keep it real. Most other hosts wouldn’t talk about that!

How do The Hookies compare to your comedy performances?
The Hookies are unique. They’re like the Oscars but much more fun because we give out awards for things like Best Ass.

Is that your favorite category?
Yes. I love a big ass on a man! I’m no big top. I just love a Kardashian ass on a man. I’ll be paying close attention to the Best Top competition, too. Everyone loves a big ole dick.

What does winning mean to a contestant’s career?
Who knows? I thought after I won an Emmy, I was set for work, but it’s never easy. We all have to keep on hustling.In most jobs, if they’re letting you go, you get a pink slip or some warning. In acting, you turn the page in the script and learn that in the next scene, you’re going to have your eyeballs gouged out with a melon baller and be chopped to pieces. This year I was lucky to get a part in “American Horror Story: Coven” with Jessica Lange and all these amazing actresses. Hopefully I’ll come back from the dead next season.

If you had to choose between spending time with Jessica Lange or a male escort, whom would you pick?
Jessica Lange is wonderful, but I get more excited meeting a pornstar. One time I was on a set with Rita Moreno, and pornstar Rex Chandler was an extra. He was the only person I spoke to the entire shoot.

You really like your porn stars!
First and foremost, I’m a fan.

Now that you’re an experienced host, how will you make the show even better?
This year, I’m going to talk less and draw the contestants out more. Just because you’re a porn star doesn’t mean you can walk and talk onstage. Very few can! I’m a storyteller; that’s what I do best. But I have to keep my stories short. People come to these shows to see big dicks swinging around.

For readers who have never attended The Hookies, how should they prepare for the evening?
Don’t expect anything. If you go in expecting something, you’ll be completely surprised. There are all kinds of unexpected people, and it’s a hoot. Take a look around and simply go with the flow.

Do you have any advice for the contestants?
Keep fucking.
