Two of dance music’s most beloved names are joining forces again, and the timing couldn’t feel more right. Kristine W, the powerhouse vocalist behind 17 Billboard #1 dance hits, has teamed up with superstar DJ-producer Tracy Young — the first woman to win a Grammy for Remixer of the Year — on “Music’s Gonna Save Us,” the second single from Kristine W’s new album, Dance with Me.
The pairing is a full-circle moment for two artists whose careers have long been intertwined with queer dancefloors. Young co-wrote the track with Kristine W and also delivers one of the release’s standout remixes. “Tracy Young and I go way back,” Kristine W says. “I hoped she would be able to deliver a mix with her crazy summer touring schedule, and she made it happen. It is an epic mix.”
The single arrives on the heels of “Next to You,” which has become one of the songs of the summer, climbing to #3 on the Music Week Charts in Europe and setting streaming records for Kristine W. But where “Next to You” was about the ache of isolation, “Music’s Gonna Save Us” is a call to come back together on the floor. “This song encourages everyone to come out and dance, connect, and celebrate life,” Kristine W says. “The global music community is vast, diverse, inspiring, and beautiful. There is a style of music for everyone — it’s readily accessible, and it is a great healer.”
That belief runs deep. Kristine W traces it back to her own family, generations of German and Swedish musicians who leaned on music through hardship, from her father’s early death to her mother’s fight to hold a household together. “Music saved my Mom from losing her four kids to child services,” she says. It’s the same lifeline she’s watched music offer to the LGBTQ+ community for decades — a space, a beat, a chosen family on the dancefloor.
Beyond Young’s contribution, the single’s remix package features Soul Seekerz x Luv Foundation, Alphabet Mafia, and more, each reworking the track’s anthemic chorus — built, Kristine W says, “specifically for everyone to sing along with each other.”
