Traipsing through Atlantic City, I once again was able to have a conversation with comedy star Jiggy, this time about his appearance at the Get Out! Awards. Jiggy is the opening act for the amazing Impractical Jokers while they are touring live. Jiggy will be performing at this year’s Get Out! Awards at Boots and Saddle on Monday, June 1.
So you’ll be appearing at this year’s Get Out! Awards.
I’m going to do the brightest act for this floor show, and I might even have an outfit to match, so I’m very excited.
Will you wear pink?
If you tell me that pink is the way to go, I’ll wear pink. I want to fit right in.
Assless chaps, how about?
Assless chaps? They’re at the dry cleaner right now, so if they are ready by June 1…
So you’re performing presently at Atlantic City’s Tropicana, The Comedy Stop.
I’m here playing The Comedy Stop at the Tropicana. I’m telling jokes and trying to meet the next Mrs. Jiggy. It’s gone as successfully as it’s gone in New York, so 0 for 7.
I think you better try for Mr. Jiggy.
-I guess that’s what comes next.
We spoke last time about your manscape. Still into that?
I’m still upkeeping it, especially now that it’s published. I can’t be going back on my word. Now there’s an expectation. It’s published, it’s inside a magazine, so it will be forever manscaped.
What’s coming up for you?
I’m still recording my weekly podcast with Jon Kilmer, which is called “Jiggy and Jon, the Podcast.” He’s very funny. We’ll be recording the podcast for the summer, and I’m back on tour with the Jokers starting May 1.
What’s your favorite recent show that you’ve done?
This week has been great. I perform every night here. Last night we had an entire room of bachelorette parties, so that’s gotta be number two. They’re not 21 yet, but they were cute. Just ripping and playing with them. It was a good time.
So is this your first time doing an award show?
I’ve never done a gay award show. I’ve never done an award show. So just to break in, in the award show market. I’m thrilled. I can’t wait. I hope it’s a very supportive crowd. Is it gonna be rowdy? I am going to be an A-plus piece of meat that night.
Don’t flatter yourself. By the way, I heard your podcast about the magazine. Thank you for that. It was really funny.
It was all good things.
What will you be doing this summer?
There’s a lot of shows on the road with the Jokers. We’re traveling all around the northeast.
Are you doing Westbury?
Westbury is one, and then we’re coming back to Atlantic City the end of July. A lot of big shows with The Jokers. They’re doing great. And then I’ll be doing some colleges at the end of the summer, just booking as many dates as I can. All these highlights like the Get Out! Awards, which is gonna be awesome. I can’t wait.
Yeah, you want the support of the gay audience?
Oh, they’re great.
They might even think you’re funny.
That would be better than my audience now.
Where are you from again?
Originally from outside Boston. I’m from so many different places. I lived in Boca, the old lady capital of the world, and then I lived in Orlando, but I grew up outside Boston.
And why did you decide to do comedy?
I thought I was funny. I really started doing standup because I wanted to be the center of attention, and I thought it would help me get girls. I got 50% of what I intended. I am the center of attention, but it definitely did not help me get girls.
I think you have a girlfriend?
I don’t have a girlfriend, just a lot of girls that would be upset if they heard that.
Anything you want to add?
Check out the podcast, and the “Tinderella” video is on fire. There will be more music videos to come this summer, more podcasts to come this summer.
