‘Hands’: A Song For Orlando

I believe music has the power to change the world. Reminiscent of “Give Peace a Chance” and Band Aid’s “Do They Know It’s Christmas,” when the biggest rock stars banded together for a cause, now there  is “Hands,” a musical tribute to the victims of Orlando.

GLAAD and Interscope Records has just released “Hands,” a song for Orlando. The record features Mary J Blige, Jason Derulo, Tyler Glenn, Selena Gomez, Halsey, Ty Henderson, Imagine Dragons, Juanes, Adam Lambert, Mary Lambert, Jennifer Lopez, the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles, Kacey Musgraves , MNEK, Alex Newell, P!nk, Prince Royce, Nate Ruess, RuPaul, Troye Sivan, Jussie Smollett, Britney spears, Gwen Stephani and Meghan Trainor. The record will be available exclusively on iTunes, and proceeds from the sale of the single in the U.S. will benefit Equality Florida Pulse Victims Fund, the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida and GLAAD.

The song is a powerful ballad with inspirational lyrics, majestic harmonies and a strong feeling of pride, hope and belonging. “It doesn’t matter who you love. It only matters that you love” is a small example of the heartfelt lyrics included in the tribute release.

The collaboration of all those supporting the LGBT community is a small miracle in the face of such a senseless and tragic act of violence. Sonically, it is brilliant; vocally, it is an explosive and epic musical event.

The song was written by BloodPop and Warner Chappell writers Justin Tranter and Julia Michaels, and produced by BloodPop, Mark Ronson and Justin Tranter. John Janick, CEO of Interscope Geffen A&M, said it best: “We all know music has the power to heal.”

“Hands” is an essential purchase. It has everything in it that’s important in life: heart, love, power and soul, performed by some of the best singers in the world.

“Hands” is available now for digital download via iTunes.
