Today is Transgender Day of Visibility, a day to praise the accomplishments of transgender and gender non-conforming people around the world, as well as raise awareness of the work that’s still needed to do.
What better way to celebrate than with an empowering track by transgender Youtube sensation-turned-recording artist, Mila Jam?
Her new ‘Faces’ single salutes individual beauty, self acceptance and everyone’s right to be exactly who they are.
“The song is about staring boldly into that mirror and realizing that we are enough and we do belong,” says Mila.
The powerful track is being accompanied by an equally compelling music video featuring many leading faces in today’s LGBTQ community including Unbreakable’s Titus Burgess, Laverne Cox, supermodel Geena Rocero, Candis Cayne, Drag Race’s Peppermint, Transparent’s Zackary Drucker and Trace Lysette, Sense8’s Jamie Clayton, Making His Band’s Jaila Simms, Real World’s Davis Mallory, In The Dollhouse’s Lina Bradford, Jai Rodriguez, Rain Valdez and many, many more, all lip syncing to Mila’s formidable vocals and declaring, “I belong.”
Mila Jam is currently working on a full-length album to be released this summer. ‘Faces’ is available on iTunes now. Visit Mila’s official website.
