The acclaimed POSE star and Executive Producer of I’M YOUR VENUS joins the story of Micky Angelo Petrillo, who transitioned at 59 and is discovering that becoming yourself may only be the beginning

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — NEW YORK: Acclaimed actress, model, activist and producer Dominique Jackson serves as Executive Producer of CALL ME MICKY, a new documentary short following Micky Angelo Petrillo, a larger-than-life New Jersey native who transitioned at 59.

The film’s official trailer has now been released ahead of its upcoming festival run.

Jackson is internationally recognized for her commanding portrayal of Elektra on FX’s groundbreaking series POSE and as a prominent voice for transgender visibility and representation. She also served as an Executive Producer of the acclaimed documentary I’M YOUR VENUS, which premiered at the Tribeca Festival.

Jackson also appears in CALL ME MICKY, joining Petrillo on camera for an intimate conversation about identity, visibility and what it means to finally live openly as yourself.

Now in his sixties, Petrillo is making up for lost time. Funny, outspoken and relentlessly optimistic, he steps increasingly into public life through Pride celebrations, open mics, storytelling and candid conversations with longtime friends.

Rather than framing Petrillo’s life as a conventional transition story, CALL ME MICKY asks what happens afterthe transition — when becoming yourself is no longer the ending, but the beginning.

At 22 minutes, the documentary captures a particular moment in Petrillo’s life while opening the door onto a much larger story still unfolding beyond the frame.

Petrillo is also the author of the memoir Walking the Earth: First as a Woman, Then a Man.

CALL ME MICKY is produced by CARDINAL, a New York City–based creative production company, and directed by CARDINAL co-founder Andrew Rasmussen.

The film begins its festival run this fall, with additional screenings and festival announcements forthcoming.
