Diva supreme Diana Ross celebrates her birthday March 26th.
Uber fan and journalist Dustin Fitzharris presents a night to remember at the Monster on 80 Grove St. in New York City’s West Village. The event is called “To Love Again” since this year marks the second annual birthday bash honoring the eternally hip and cool Ross. DJ Formika will be spinning while the dance floor will be packed with Ross enthusiasts.
These days, Ross spends most of her time touring her show around the country. She plays to sold out crowds, including her recent performance at the reopening of Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre. Ross also has an upcoming residency at The Venetian in Las Vegas where she’ll perform throughout April.
“I’m really excited about this year’s event. Last year it was overwhelming. It’s incredible to see all generations come together and dance and enjoy her style,” Fitzharris says.
Diana Ross, one of the music industry’s greatest icons, has massed a total of 18 #1 hits, is an Academy Award-nominated actress and was named by Billboard magazine as Female Entertainer of the Century.
For those few people who don’t know Diana Ross, some may know her daughters Tracee Ellis Ross for starring in the ABC hit show “Blackish” or her daughter Rhonda Ross, also a singer who performs at venues around the country.
So come dance the night away to some of the most memorable and most cherished songs that have transcended decades—“Love Hangover,” “The Boss” and of course the 1980 hit “I’m Coming Out,” a signature song for the gay community that is still widely celebrated to this day. In addition to the recognizable Ross classics, there will also be some rare treasures.
To Love Again: The 2nd Annual Diana Ross Dance Celebration – MARCH 22, 2015 at The Monster, 80th and Grove. 6-10 p.m. Free admission.
