VERDE, WHO HAILS FROM NORTHERN ITALY, SPENDS MOST OF HIS TIME ON THE ROAD SPINNING AT MAJOR CIRCUIT PARTIES INCLUDING MIAMI BEACH’S WHITE PARTY, MEXICO CITY’S PINK PARTY, RIO’S CARNAVAL, AT PRIDE EVENTS IN NEW YORK, SAN DIEGO, VANCOUVER, MONTREAL, WASHINGTON, BOSTON, MIAMI, TORONTO AND SAN FRANCISCO AS WELL AS ALL OVER EUROPE, ASIA AND AUSTRALIA.

In addition to DJing, Verde is also an acclaimed producer, with his record label Holab Studios collaborating with international labels, artists and producers for the past two decades. Get Out! spoke exclusively to Verde ahead of BPM launch night for the story behind one of the world’s most celebrated DJs.

How did you get your start DJing? What attracts you to music?
Music has always been my loyal company since when I was a child, when I started playing a little keyboard toy, trying to reproduce the melodies heard through the TV and radio. It’s like the air I breathe. So it was quite inevitable that I end up living my life creating my own productions, and living with it. First of all, I consider myself a producer, afterwards a DJ, and both sides are important and complementary if one really wants to get to know how to make people dance!

What have been some of the highlights of your DJ career?
In this last years I touched so many cities, saw many people
from diferent countries that I’d never thought would have been possible! Say, performing at Divers/Cité Festival in Montreal in front of 15,000 people was thrilling, not to mention Purple Party in Dallas, San Diego Pride and Pink Party in Mexico got me such an emotion that I was about to cry! So many places to remember. But I like to make every night a special one, every time a diferent event.

You live in Italy but it sounds like you spend most of your time on the road. How does spinning in New York compare to nightlife destinations around the globe?
Yeah, sometimes I forget I still live in Italy as I travel so much! Spinning in New York is always special because, come on, it’s New York! The first thought a European has when talking about U.S. is NEW YORK CITY, where the American Dream comes true! It’s always challenging to play here ‘cause there are a lot of expectations; the crowd only wants the best. Therefore, it’s such a good school!

What’s the hottest remix of 2014 so far? What are you working on now that we can expect in the near future?
Well, this year has just begun, but I think there will be a lot of great productions coming up! The musical scene is evolving. Now is the right time to experiment and try to do something di?erent as several genres and sound influences are mixing up! That’s what we are aiming to do with our project Bent Collective, a duo including me and Steven Redant; our remix for Cyndi Lauper of the legendary “Time After Time” has just been released, and I guess it will make a lot of noise!

Tell us more about your recording studio, Holab Studio. I heard the studio has collaborated with superstars such as Cher and Lady Gaga?
My recording studio is really tiny, and I just got it updated, but I’m so proud of it. It’s incredible how technology has changed the way how to make music. Now I can even work
on the road and finish up my remixes when I got home! The creative process never stops! I’ve had the honor and pleasure to work with some legendary artists [such] as Cher, Mariah Carey and Lady Gaga too. I feel so enthusiastic when I get to play the original voice from those amazing divas, playing out from my speakers, and I can put my hands on it! I’ll never forget when I heard Cyndi Lauper saying my name in a radio interview, showing her appreciation to the remix of “Sex Is in the Heel,” which I made for her. I said “OMG, CYNDI LAUPER knows me and said my name, that’s incredible!!”

How does it feel to be performing at the all-new nightclub BPM on its launch night?
You can’t imagine how excited I am! I know a lot of people, friends and fans as well who will come to BPM especially for this awesome opening. And all I feel to say is, I’M GONNA LET YOU HAVE IT!
