Bob the Drag Queen to Host the 13th Annual Queerties, Streaming on WOW Presents Plus
Queerty, the leading LGBTQ+ entertainment news site, has announced that Bob the Drag Queen will take center stage as the host of the 13th Annual Queerties Awards. The much-anticipated event, which honors excellence in LGBTQ+ entertainment and culture, will take place on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at The Avalon in Hollywood. For those unable to attend in person, the awards ceremony will be available for streaming on WOW Presents Plus beginning March 18.
The Queerties celebrates groundbreaking achievements in music, television, film, and more, amplifying the voices of LGBTQ+ creators and innovators who often go unrecognized at mainstream award shows. Scott Gatz, CEO of Q.Digital, Queerty’s parent company, highlights the event’s significance, stating, “The Queerties gives voice to the LGBTQ+ community. It’s the pop culture awards show where queer people honor the best of the best, voting for the talent and creatives who inspire and pave the way for the next generation of queer youth.”
This year’s host, Bob the Drag Queen, is no stranger to the spotlight. A winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race, a contestant on The Traitors, and co-host of HBO’s We’re Here, Bob is also an author, with an upcoming novel, Harriet Tubman: Live in Concert. Known for their sharp wit and advocacy, Bob acknowledges the importance of the Queerties, especially given today’s political climate. “It’s important to devote more focus to LGBTQ+ artists and content due to the attacks coming from the current administration that attempt to not only minimize but essentially erase the existence of people,” Bob says. “Engaging with (queer) content builds community. It does more than you could imagine.”

The 13th Annual Queerties nominees reflect a remarkable year of LGBTQ+ representation and achievement. In the “Badass” category, pop star Chappell Roan and trans Latina actress and filmmaker Nava Mau lead the pack as some of the year’s most influential LGBTQ+ figures. The “Style Icon” category recognizes trailblazers like Laverne Cox (Clean Slate) and androgynous Filipino-American fashion designer Zaldy Goco.
Honoring those who have shared their journeys publicly, the “Coming Out for Good” category features singer Khalid (Satellite), country music star Maren Morris, and RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Detox. Meanwhile, stellar performances in film and television are recognized in categories such as “Film Performance,” which includes nominees Elliot Page (Close to You), Justice Smith (I Saw the TV Glow), and Karla Sofía Gascón (Emilia Perez). In television, Cooper Koch (Monsters: The Lyle and Eric Menendez Story), Yasmin Finney (Heartstopper), and Aubrey Plaza (Agatha All Along) are among those in contention.

The Queerties is also shining a light on LGBTQ+ literature, particularly in response to the increasing number of book bans. The “Best Queer Read” category includes nominees American Teenager by Nico Lang, Rebel Girl by Kathleen Hanna, and The T in LGBT by Jamie Raines.
Winners of the Queerties are chosen by the public, with voting open now through February 25, 2025. For more information on the event and to cast your vote, visit www.queerty.com/Queerties. To catch all the action, subscribe to WOW Presents Plus at www.wowpresentsplus.com.
