We recently had a chance to sit down with Sir Ari Gold and talk about his music.

Sir Ari, it’s a pleasure to speak with you! Your album “Between the Spirit & the Flesh” is packed with great music.
Thank you! I just released the third single and video from the album. It’s called “My Favorite Religion,” and the video has already sparked some Internet controversy for its blending of religious symbolism and sexuality.

“Make My Body Rock” was the first single off the album, and I released it with a collection of remixes, which include some really hot mixes that have been really popular in clubs in New York including one by Mr. Mig and Mike Rizzo. I also released “Sparkle” featuring Sarah Dash from the original Labelle. The video features all these NYC transgender celebrities including Milan from RuPaul’s Drag Race, Laverne Cox, Mila Jam and then my mom, who I always thought is somewhat of a drag queen!

I chose the name “Sparkle” as a tribute to songs by Aretha Franklin and Diana Ross, cause the song is an anti-bullying message and about finding your inner diva. Now, ironically, it’s also the name of the last movie Whitney Houston did, who was one of my favorite divas.

Where can people go to hear you perform?
I’m doing a show at New York Live on May 25 at The Players Theater. Also, I’m working on my one-man show BASHERT, and will hopefully be debuting that in a theater in New York. You can sign up on SirAriGold.com to hear about all the latest dates and when I’m going out on tour again.

Your one-man show sounds exciting!
Yes, I call BASHERT “My Autobiographical Homotheatrical Multimedia Musical”!

I’m also working on a new remix album and video retrospective. It’s the first remix project since the remix album I released with my coffee table book in 2005. I’ve never released any of my videos on DVD, so this is the first time I will have all seven of my #1 Logo NewNowNext videos together, and the DVD will include some others as well. It will include my first video “Wave of You,” which debuted with the launch of the Logo network during commercial breaks, as well as “Love Will Take Over,” which bumped Madonna out of the top spot!

“Between the Spirit & the Flesh” is available now at theoutclub.com, Amazon, iTunes and your favorite retailer.
