“Mile1”
Baskerville Jones is a unique artist, who records her songs basically unplugged, authentic, and refreshing, surrounded by a world filled with synth and tribal mixes.
Jones is no stranger to the music industry, although “Mile 1” is her first solo endeavor. She was the lead singer for the band, “The Rebirth”, one of a few bands who performed in Alcatraz. She has also performed or recorded with artists such as: Heather Headley, Chrisette Michelle, and Sly Stone. Although born in Nashville, she relocated to Los Angeles to purse her musical career. She has performed internationally as well as in the US, and has developed a distinctive style and stage presence.
After performing with friends and colleagues for over a decade, Jones recorded ” Mile 1″, an EP which shows her versatility as a solo artist. Her album will be released, May 3, 2016, however her single “So Right”, which I absolutely have fallen in love with, will be out on March 1st.
“So Right” is a combination of Jason Mraz, Tracy Chapman, and Sarah Bareilles, vocally expressed in a voice not unlike that of Whitney Houston. It has an “Island” flavor, and is almost acoustically driven. It’s a light, happy song, that instantly puts you in a good mood. Baskerville Jones is like a breathe of fresh air. Her voice is sweet, yet powerful and flooded with emotion. The other songs on the EP follow suit, and are filled with soul. She is immediately impressive, and her vocals and lyrics certainly stand out above the crowd.
Be prepared to hear more from Baskerville Jones in the future, as I believe her style to be special and very different.
