“A Genre All Their Own”
Hailing from Canada, “Bad Reed”, is a combination of diverse musicians who have come together full of life and passion to present a unique, alternative sound to the world. Their newly released EP self titled, has only three songs on it, but leaves you with a huge impact, and can be downloaded for free on the Internet.
The members of the band include, Costa Chatzis on percussion, Graham Walker on guitars, Austin Sharpe on bass and Sydney Sollazzo, who has a voice like an angel, and is reminiscent of “Jefferson Airplane’s Grace Slick, on vocals and keys. Each of the members came from small towns, different musical influences, and life experiences, and have managed to combine all of this into a tight quartet, with a relevant and unforgettable sound.
“Slack jaw Romance” is a beautiful romantic song packed with emotion, and an uplifting beat. “All I needs a little love and affection, my sanity, All I want is a pack of cigarettes and a bottle to knock back”….cute. “Cassava” is 60ish, but jazzy, and sexy. “Punch It”, different again than the other two, somewhat bluesy, yet tainted with synth. Their songs are powerful, explosive, and definitely leave one wanting more of them. They are easy to become addicted to.
Presently they are touring in Canada in support of their new EP, however 2016 is sure to see them playing in many festivals and gaining more radio play. The band has a great spirit, a distinctive soul, and the ability to make their audience love to love them.
