A.D.D. AVALON DEFICIT DISORDER: CELEBRITY BULLS#%T

Ke$ha unleashed the beast this week on her new Dr. Luke-produced party anthem “Die Young,” which takes us back to the fun “Tik Tok” days. She may have reclaimed her throne as pop’s brattiest party queen, but I’m hoping the rest of her third album Warrior will show us some growth from the singer/rapper. P!nk has reason to celebrate. Her excellent new album “The Truth About Love” has given P!nk her first #1 album on the Billboard Top 200 Chart. She’s also the third artist this year to have the third-biggest album opening, behind Justin Bieber (374,000 for Believe) and Madonna’s MDNA (359,000). Besides slow grower “Blow Me (One Last Kiss),” my favorite songs off the album include “True Love,” “Slut Like You,” “Here Comes The Weekend” with Eminem and the inspirational next single “Try.” The same can’t be said for Nelly Furtado. While her latest clusterfuck of an album, The Spirit Indestructible released a plethora of songs to get a little ear candy from the catchy “Parking Lot,” her new album sold an embarrassing 7,000 copies. Loose sold 219,000 copies back in June 2006. TSI lacked focus, and without Timbaland’s spacey beats from the “Loose” era, Nelly seemed to have gotten lost in the shuffle. Rihanna shared her “Diamonds,” the first single from her untitled seventh album, and while the song is a nice change from the recent pop-dance kick she’s been on, the Sia-penned track reminds me of something we’ve already heard from the Rated R era. It hasn’t been confirmed or denied, but word on the street is that in addition to her upcoming stint as a judge on American Idol, rapper Nicki Minaj is currently filming her own reality show for E! A rumor that has been confirmed is that Adele will join the ranks of Dame Shirley Bassey, Tina Turner, Shirley Manson and Madonna by singing the theme song for the upcoming James Bond film Skyfall. Azealia Banks’ Interscope debut, “Broke with Expensive Taste,” doesn’t come out until early 2013, but she’s proving to be one of the hardest-working rappers in the game. Besides releasing her new track “Esta Noche” (which was pulled from iTunes due to using producer Munchi’s beat without permission), on September 27 she released a hot new music video for her song Luxury, which has the Harlem MC strolling through her hometown and dancing on a rooftop while urging her fans to vote.
