LARITZA DuMont

Legendary queen Laritza Dumont reflects on her career AND WORKING WITH MADONNA.
Tell me about your experience working on the movie “To Wong Foo.” Who do you think looked the best in drag – Patrick Swayze, John Leguizamo or Wesley Snipes?
I think that John looked the best first because they used my makeup pattern on him. Wesley was giving bangee realness. Patrick (RIP) was giving very Wall Street ladylike!
I love “The Pato Song.” Any plans to record more music?
I was so excited when “The Pato Song” climbed to #5 on the Billboard Dance Club Play Chart. DJ Mike Cruz produced it, and yes, I want to work on more songs with him, like “Body and Soul.” Maybe I will do a duet with you? Hmm…
Tell me about working with Madonna at the MTV Movie Awards.
The show was honoring her for her soundtrack song “Beautiful Stranger.” They had various drag queens portraying different Madonna video eras on stage. I was the “Nothing Really Matters” Madonna. Immediately after I walked out and did a few seconds of the song, Madonna stepped out. She was very loveable and gave each of us a hug and a kiss. I held hands with her on stage and we all took a bow. She was very loveable. I remember screaming, “OMG, she’s the queen!”
Tell us about your upcoming shows and performances.
On February 17, I will be at The Monster (showtime starts at 11 p.m.) hosting “The Baddest Bitch Contest.” I also have upcoming shows at Hombres in Jackson Heights, Queens, and Feathers in New Jersey. I wanna say hi to my Puerto Rico show supporters and my Florida show supporters too! Yasss!
