5 YEARS OF MATINÉE IN NYC!
Matinée Kicks Off Its Biggest Pride Weekend Ever
Matinée celebrates its fifth anniversary in New York City this Pride with its biggest weekend ever, MATINÉE PRIDE 2015. Taking place Friday, June 26th through Sunday, June 28th, the weekend will consist of four spectacular events including Friday’s Matinée Main Party at Capitale, Saturday’s Circuit Festival Rooftop Party, Sunday morning’s Action Afterhours, and Sunday’s VIP Boat Cruise.
“There is no better time to experience the magic of Matinée than during Pride when we bring the world’s biggest party brand to the greatest city on earth,” says Jake Resnicow, Managing Partner of Matinée North America. “This will be our biggest event yet as we celebrate five phenomenal years.”
The festivities begin Friday night at 10pm when Matinée launches its Main Event at one of New York City’s most impressive arenas, the historic Capitale. Jaw-dropping staging and incredible production are being flown in from Spain. International DJ superstar Boris, best known for his 12-hour marathon sets of slick, pumping house music, will spin the beats until the early morning along with Matinée All-Star Lydia Sanz and Rico Alexis, who kicks off the night. For the first time at any Pride event ever, attendees will experience the same Pixmob technology that activated crowds during the Super Bowl Halftime show and the Olympics Opening Ceremonies!
The fun continues Saturday at 2pm at Copa when Circuit Festival joins the Matinée Pride madness. Enjoy the boys and beats of the world’s biggest gay event on the city’s most exclusive rooftop, right in the heart of Hell’s Kitchen. Matinée will transform the roof with its own custom light and sound installation. DJ’s Tom Stephan and The O’Halley Brothers man the decks on the Circuit rooftop, while the Room Service America takes over in the Main Room with Jodie Harsh, Dawson and Serving Ovahness spinning. As a special treat, ABSOLUT Vodka will present an open bar from 2pm-3pm. Also, guests will be the first to experience the 360° Movie-Booth that was last seen on the red carpet at the Grammys and Oscars.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a party weekend without a little action. Action Afterhours begins Sunday at 5am at Mach 8, a venue renowned for its award-winning integral sound system (previously used at Sound Factory, Twilo and Roxy). Resident DJ Billy Lace headlines, alongside DJs Hannah and SDOT.
Wrapping up the weekend will be the VIP Boat Cruise at Circleline Pier 83. Partygoers will sail off into the sunset to enjoy breathtaking views of the Statue of Liberty and New York City skyline as they dance to the high-energy beats of DJs Tony Moran and Theresa. Boarding starts at 7:00pm and ship sets sail at 8pm. It returns to dock at 11pm, but not befoe a very special, explosive surprise!
Matinée launched nearly twenty years ago in Ibiza with the idea to elevate parties by crafting elaborate sets and theatrical productions. Since 2010, Resnicow and Patrick Crough have brought the international party franchise to the states with incredible spectacles in Miami, Orlando, Vegas and Los Angeles. It all started in New York City during Pride.
“There was something special in the air that night,” recalls Crough. “The energy, the music, the magic of experiencing Matinée in Manhattan for the first time. To this day, there are two or three tracks that when I hear them, they always take me back to that night.”
“Its incredible to see how far we’ve come in five years,” he continues. “We couldn’t be more proud of our baby.”
New York City-based nightlife promoter and producer Joe Roszak is joining Resnicow and Crough for this year’s anniversary celebration. “We’re psyched to take Matinée to the next level,” he says.
