On Sunday September 21st, the 28th annual Broadway Flea Market and Grand Auction set a new record amount raising money for equity fights aids. Each year at the event raises money for the charity by selling used goods from stars and ensemble cast members of some of the biggest show on Broadway, with each theater manning their own table on 44th street ending with a grand auction in Time Sqaure. This year a few goodies available on sale included clothing from actress Sutton Foster, Autographies from stars such as Zachary Quinto, David Hyde Peirce (to name a few) Props, costumes, souvenirs and home made baked goods by the cast of hit shows like WICKED, and The Lion King, as well as free condoms from the Broadway Bares tables which featured naked male guitar plays on the cover and the words “Rock Hard” printed on the packaging. But the Grand Auction, run by Broadway veteran auctioneer Bryan Batt (Beauty and the Beast, Cats), brought the most money raising 263,000 dollars by itself. A few auction itiems included Autographed sheet music of Marvin Hamlisch also signed by the legandary Barbra Striesand, sheet music from the Frozen song Let it go signed by Idena Menzel “Also signed by Adel dazeem”, joked Mr. Batt. a chance for a walk on role in shows such as Chicago, Alladin, and Les Mis starring Nikk James who sold the offer by promising, “We’ll make you look real glamorous full make-up and dirt and everyting.” Ms. James (Hold the M) made sure to stop by and have a few words with GET OUT as soon as she stepped off the auction stage. “Let’s talk. Let’s have a Broadway chit-chat”, says James, “It’s a really great, cause. I love being a part of it”. Over all the entire event raised $633,466 for Equity fights aids. A new record for the important Charity.
