Genesis NYC During Pride! Join Tracy Young & TEDD PATTERSON on Friday, June 28, when they bring the heat to Irving Plaza.

Tracy, thanks for taking the time to speak with me, especially with a huge party around the corner! Genesis is taking place in New York City on June 28, from Miami for the first time. The party is so iconic and known as a Miami event. Was that a hard decision? I’ve been living in both New York and Miami for the past few years. I love both cities for having very distinct sounds in dance music. Genesis Miami will always embody the soul of Miami as it has been there for the past 10 years, and through Genesis New York, we will also be able to channel the sounds of this City.

What does throwing a huge party like Genesis in New York City mean to you? I also consider New York my home, as well as Miami. I’m excited to celebrate Gay Pride with the New York LGBT community!

Sometimes you tease your fans with some unreleased music that you have out there (like your unreleased mix of Mary J Blige’s “Just Fine”). You have also remixed Cher’s latest hit single, “Woman’s World,” which has gotten a lot of attention. Any music we can expect to hear released soon? My labels, Ferosh Recordings and F Region Productions, have started releasing new music this year. The latest release is a collaboration between our artist, Astrid Suryanto, and myself called “Color of Your Eyes” (out now on Beatport, iTunes, etc.). The song itself has a nu disco/indie dance vibe, but I will be debuting my big room remix at Genesis New York along with my latest remixes of Nikki Williams, Ginny Blackmore and a few others that I cannot mention yet.

You’ve carved a name for yourself in the music industry and stand right along with your male counterparts in the DJ world. Is it that much harder for a woman to make a name for herself? To be able to have a fingerprint in history is hard for everyone, men and women. We all work hard in mastering our crafts, both in creating and delivering music to the listeners.

There is so much new talent coming up in the music industry. Are there any remixers or producers out there that you are really loving and/or would love to work with? I’ve always loved Stuart Price and Felix da Housecat, so I am so excited to be able to work with one of them soon!

What’s next for Tracy Young? Music, music…and more music! It’s my lifelong passion. When I’m not on the road, I am constantly in the studio working on original music, remixes and music-based multimedia projects.
