Stuart Reardon: Sexy Professional Rugby Player Announces Retirement

Sitting in an urban cafe in Liverpool, professional rugby player, supermodel and certified fitness expert Stu Reardon walked in looking as handsome and salacious as ever. Accompanied by his personal assistant Lynda Thornsby, the six-foot athlete gave me a warm hug and sat down. We recalled his visit to Cherry Grove and Manhattan, and then suddenly he shocked me with the news of his retirement.

I’ve known Stu now for a while, and as always found him to be one of the most laid back, candid and sweetest individuals I have ever met, not to mention the fact that he was voted one of the 10 most handsome men in the world.

What did you say?
I’m retiring.

What? What will you be doing, just modeling?
Yes, I’m retiring from rugby. I guess I’ll train as well.

Explain the personal training thing that you do.
I run an online program called “Fear Nothing  Fitness.” It runs four weeks at a time. You get a diet, you get 12 sessions per month, three a week. It’s on my website. You can work out anywhere, no equipment necessary. You get personal emails as well as a secret Facebook page for support.

Someone like me, how much weight can I lose in a session?
If your diet’s clean, a lot. If you’re committed to working out, you can always lose weight. You have to commit to a lifestyle, exercising, eat healthy.
That’s the lifestyle that you lead?
That’s the lifestyle I lead. I’ve been a professional athlete for years. I’ve always lived that lifestyle. I’ll continue to do that, even when I don’t play. That’s part of being a personal trainer.

Your online program is very personally interactive, correct?
Sure, of course. I have to explain how to do it, set diets, set workouts, set goals for people, realistic goals that they can reach. They communicate what they want, and I try to reach it for them. It’s a good job. You get to meet people, help people. I’m looking forward to growing it, and I’ll have more time to model.

[At that point, Lynda showed me the nearly naked picture that Stu had put online that morning.]
So Stu, you are pretty heavily into the modeling scene. I know you also do many book covers.
The book covers are going well. I’m trying to downsize a lot to be able to do fashion commercials. I’ve done a bit of traveling, to Germany and Barcelona. I’m going to continue to downsize a little more. I’m too big for commercial modeling. [He was referring to his muscles, by the way.]

So let’s talk about the retirement.
It’s my 16th year. I’m doing my testimonial. I’m finished after this year. I represented Great Britain. There’s individual teams and national ones. I also played in Australia; I played in Sydney. I want to retire. I want to do other things now. I’ve enjoyed rugby, but I keep getting hurt. I have a torn rotator cuff and need an operation. I’ve had a lot of injuries.
