LUCIANA – Tearing Down The Walls [MUSIC VIDEO]

Three times a charm as filmmaker JB Ghuman, Jr. and pop vocalist/DJ Luciana collaborate again; this time on the music video for Luciana’s new high-energy track produced by Swedish DJ duo Cave Kings, “Tearing Down The Walls”.   While the look and sound play like a delicious trip to a candy shop – Luciana describes the track as a “high-fat, full-cream, double-shot, milkshake supreme” – the video’s message couldn’t be more heartfelt and timely to Ghuman and Luciana. In editing, Ghuman even manages to add astrological and numerological visuals and sound bites into the video, meant to serve as a wake-up call for all to free inhibitions, step out of boxes, go after dreams, find truth and live in it. Luciana’s “Tearing Down The Walls” will be available for sale on iTunes and all digital outlets on October 2. The “Tearing Down The Walls” music video, directed by JB Ghuman, Jr., is available on YouTube now.
“There are so many walls that get placed before us in life, real and imaginary,” says Luciana from her home in Los Angeles.  “It’s only when we step out of our comfort zone that we feel alive.”
Luciana consistently rises to the top of the Billboard and Beatport charts, most recently with ‘Nightshine’, her collaboration with Excision. She won Best Electro/Progressive house track at this year’s International Dance Music Awards in Miami for  ‘Arcadia’, her track with Hardwell.
“We all know instinctively about the wonder of the new and unexplored when we are very young, but as we go through life we become complacent and unadventurous and forget the thrill of just being in the moment,” she continues.  “We have to smash the walls of comfort and stay open to the possibilities that exist in every second.  Live on the edge. Don’t wear a seatbelt. Get the parachute out!”
Ghuman, Jr. agrees, believing humans are on earth to shine, explore and learn; but also to fall apart, cry and burn.
“The video is what I’d call an activation visual,” he says.  “I was inspired by the process of alchemy and wanted to apply it to human emotions lined up with the elements. My goal is that those who sit and watch this walk away with a glow bug stuck in their skull, wiggling its way to the truth.
“It’s important to see your truth, even the dark parts,” he reflects. “Then rise, climb back up and realize you’re doing just as you should. You’re willing to not only survive reality, but face it and dance with it; even if you must tear it down and recreate it.”
Both Ghuman, Jr. and Luciana know a thing or two about tearing down walls. Even at a young age Ghuman, Jr. shunned a traditional job because he was passionate about creating his own art. Against all odds, he took his chance, borrowing money to direct his first feature film, the award-winning musical comedy, “Spork”.
Likewise, Luciana has been a pioneer in the electro music scene. She’s written for stars like Britney Spears and Kylie Minogue and has collaborated with some of the biggest DJs and producers including Tiesto and Fedde Le Grande. Her previous work with Cave Kings spawned Havana Brown’s smash “Warrior.” Still, she always enjoys reuniting with Ghuman, Jr.
“JB steps outside of the expected and familiar and mixes in everything he has ever felt, loved and dreamt into a whole new JB world of vibrancy, color and craziness,” she explains. “He makes me feel like I’m watching videos for the first time all over again; like when MTV was the big thing.”
Her perception is adept. Ghuman, Jr’s music video for “Tearing Down the Walls” is certainly a throwback.  At a quick glance, there is even a flash of Jackée Harry from a 1987 episode of “227.”
On a deeper level, however, it’s more than a fun music video.  It’s a piece of art, depicting elements of fire, steam, transformation, and release. It features models wearing t-shirts that start off with the graphic “Every Things Been Done” and then switches to “Every Things Yet 2BE Done.”   According to Ghuman, Jr., it’s intended to dispel the popularly held myth that everything creative has already been done.
He points to actress Tatum O’Neal, YouTube blogger Jordan Pearce and inventor Nikola Tesla as examples of people tearing down the walls. Luciana adds Apple’s Steve Jobs and musician David Bowie to the list.
Both contend that there will always be room for growth, change and raising levels of consciousness.  Once one wall is torn down, another wall is sure to be waiting behind it.
