Alex Hermoso

Did you ever speak to someone and immediately know within the first three minutes of talking to them with every ounce of conviction in your soul, that when you actually met this person face to face they just had to be a blast? Conversing with Get Out! Magazine Awards host Alex Hermoso convinced me that he was overwhelmingly that type of person. Proud to be gay and excited to be part of anything having to do with the community, Hermoso was extremely excited to be one of this year’s hosts for the awards at Boots and Saddle on Monday, June 1, at 8:30 p.m.

You are one of the Get Out! Awards hosts this year. What made you want to do that?
I’m very grateful to have worked with the gay community for over 10 years now. I’m very happy to be a host. I’m very happy and I’m very excited.

What is your role in the gay nightlife scene?
I’m promoting for many years in bars and in clubs. I support gay pride. I do so many things—fundraisers, too. I do so many things that I can’t remember.

What do you like best about gay nightlife?
The music, the people, the community.

Are you gay?
I’m here, and I’m gay.

Just making sure.
I’m proud to be gay. I’m part of the community. That’s why I’m really excited to be part of the show. I’m really excited and happy. You know, I’m a radio host in New Jersey for more than 15 years. I’m working for 97.9FM New Jersey. So I’m working for the media.

Is it a Spanish radio station?
It’s Spanish. I’ve been working in entertainment for more than 10 years. I received two different awards for entertainment and for being a radio host this year.

That’s great!
This is my year!

When can New Jersey hear you on the radio?
Sundays, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Caliente.

Caliente, that means “hot”?
Yeah, HOT! Right.

What is happening for you in the future?
I can’t really tell you. It’s a surprise. My TV show is coming soon. I have so many things coming.

Is there anything else that you want to say?
I just want to say thanks to Mike for inviting me. I’m very happy for the awards.
